COULD YOU HELP ANOTHER DIOCESAN SCHOOL?
The Diocese of Middlesbrough is in urgent need of volunteer governors for our Diocesan schools. In particular, to ensure the Bishop always has a majority voting position on his school governing bodies, we need people who can serve as Foundation Governors. Foundation Governors must be practising Catholics who can obtain a reference from their Parish Priest to confirm they are eligible to serve.
Education professionals are ideally placed to add capacity, knowledge and understanding to our governance arrangements so we are extremely keen to explore the potential for teachers and support staff in our schools or schools outside of the Diocese to come forward to fill these critical roles in Catholic education.
We do not place Foundation Governors who are current employees within their own school and we would wish to work with you in identifying a potential school you may be able to support within this role.

Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust is delighted to announce that planning is well underway for the launch of the Postgate Sports Partnership in September 2020.
With 26 schools and over 9,000 young people, the Trust is one of the largest in the UK and has the regional presence to ensure that it offers the greatest PE curriculum experiences and vast, varied and richest extra-curricular provision.
The next few months will see detailed plans drawn up with Primary Heads and Trust responsible officers consulting with National Governing Bodies of sport and local sports clubs and coaches to ensure Nicholas Postgate Catholic Academy Trust reflects the desire for participation and excellence in sports within and across our 26 schools in Teesside and North Yorkshire.

It is very appropriate after that we consider the word service and reflect upon how, as schools we serve others. Pope Francis stated: “Those who lead, must serve.” Washing feet, Pope Francis said, “was the work of a slave, but it was a service. A service performed by slaves and Jesus wanted to perform this service to give us an example
of how we have to serve one another.”
As a Catholic Trust we unite under the theme of ‘Called to Serve’. Our bishop, Bishop Terence’s motto can be translated as ‘Looking forward in blessed hope’. This is what we are asked to reflect upon and turn these words into living acts of service, to bring hope to others – serving our communities and parishes.
Over the upcoming months all schools will reflect on what they can do to help the communities they live within whether that is:
- Visiting the sick and house bound
- Working with those with learning or physical disabilities
- Supporting those who seek refuge and who are asylum seekers
- Supporting those who are bereaved
- Offering comfort to those who are suffering through illness
- Looking for ways to support the homeless
