Artistic St Bernadette’s Children Send Out Message Of Hope

10th June 2020Michael McGeary

Residents have praised St Bernadette’s Primary School in Nunthorpe after staff and pupils created a colourful “Wall of Hope” to cheer them up during these challenging times.

The vibrant artwork displayed on the railings at the front of school showcases children’s hopes and dreams for the future and includes prayers for loved ones and letters to the community.

Staff also supported children in designing posters of appreciation for all key workers.

“We wanted our local community to know we were thinking of them, so staff initially designed some rainbows and messages to let them know we cared,” said headteacher Paul Conway.

“It was so favourably received by passing residents and people who phoned in that staff felt invigorated to expand the work and engaged children at school and at home in a variety of projects.

“Our school values include being loving, respectful, determined and positive and so we are proud to be serving and supporting our community in whatever way we can.

“It has been so heartening to see how our local, parish and school community can walk hand in hand through this crisis. We have significant difficulties ahead, but I have no doubt that together, we will continue to rise to the challenge.

“We will continue to provide hope for everyone in our care and try to inspire and encourage people at this difficult time. We are all one community and together we will emerge from this stronger than ever.

“If you are safely able to pass St Bernadette’s on your daily exercise, please visit our Wall of Hope and see the work for yourselves.”

St Joseph’s Smash VE Day Walk Charity Target: May 19

19th May 2020Michael McGeary

Children and staff from St Joseph’s Primary School in Middlesbrough set a target of £150 with their VE Day Anniversary Sponsored Walk in aid of two great causes – and managed to raise EIGHT times that amount!

Pupils dressed in red, white or blue to walk as many laps as they could round their gardens.

And one of the school’s teachers, Sean Dolan, was so inspired by their efforts that he ran 75 kilometres through the streets of Stockton, Billingham and Norton in just four days to boost the two charities!

“We have been completely overwhelmed by the children’s enthusiasm for this project and amazed that we have smashed our target,” said headteacher Liz King. “One child has raised over £200, which is incredible.

“The children loved the VE activities throughout the week and we felt it was only right to support a charity which looks after men and women who have been wounded in service for their country

“During this difficult time, we would also like to support and thank our wonderful NHS who are doing a fantastic job caring for our country in its fight against COVID-19.”

Photographs showing all of their achievements were displayed in a video montage played together with Colonel Tom and Michael Ball’s smash-hit version of You’ll Never Walk Alone.

The current total for Help for Heroes and NHS Charities Together is £1,245 and donations are still coming in.

✨ Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary ✨

“Blessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.” – Luke 1:45

Today, we celebrate Mary’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth, a moment of joy, faith and charity. In her humility, Mary brought Christ to others even before He was born. Her yes to God reminds us to share His love with those around us.

Let us follow Mary’s example by carrying Christ to our neighbours, offering encouragement and rejoicing in God’s blessings together. 💛

🌟 Happy Trinity Sunday! 🌟

Today, we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - three Persons in one God, a mystery of love beyond our full understanding. 💖

Let us reflect on the eternal love that flows within the Trinity and extends to each of us. May we live in that love, share it with others and always remember that God is with us: guiding, redeeming and inspiring. ✝️

🙏 “Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”

🌿 Feast of St Augustine of Canterbury 🌿

Today, we celebrate St Augustine of Canterbury, the “Apostle to the English,” who brought the light of Christ to the people of England in the 6th century. 🙏

Sent by Pope Gregory the Great, St Augustine’s courage, faith and humility remind us that even in new and unfamiliar places, the love of God can transform hearts. 💛

Let us ask for his intercession to guide missionaries, strengthen our own witness to Christ and bring unity and peace to all communities. ✝️

✨LOURDES PILGRIMAGE ✨

✈️🙏 Representatives from right across the #NPCATFamily are making the annual pilgrimage to Lourdes this week to embark on a truly special spiritual journey. 💙

Every year, millions of pilgrims flock to this holy site seeking solace, healing and hope. Together, staff and pupils will be on hand to help those in need, join in prayer and make memories to last a life time. This week, we join thousands of young people from around the world in prayer, service and friendship at this very special place where Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette. 🌹✨

Together, we’ll walk in faith, deepen our love for Christ and open our hearts to the message of Lourdes: “Do whatever He tells you” (John 2:5). 💒✝️💜

Please keep us in your prayers as we carry with us the intentions of our families, friends and school community. 🕊️💛

📖✨ Feast of St Bede the Venerable ✨📖

Today, we celebrate St Bede, the “Father of English History,” whose life reminds us of the power of faith, study and prayer. A monk, scholar and teacher, St Bede devoted his life to understanding God’s truth and sharing it with the world.

🙏 Reflection:
St Bede teaches us that faith and intellect can go hand in hand. Through reading, writing and prayer, he showed that knowledge is a gift when used to glorify God and serve others.

📚💡 Let us pray today for wisdom, clarity and a heart open to God’s word, so that like St Bede, we may bring light to those around us.

“Better one little book with God’s grace than many without it.” – St Bede
