Project 35:35 Winners Revealed: July 10

10th July 2020Michael McGeary

During lockdown, NPCAT’s Project 35:35 competition asked the question “Is God working?” and invited members of our community to send in their responses through art, music, dance or words.

We had some fantastic entries and the judges had to make some tough decisions to decide who the winners wouldΒ be.

CLICK HERE TO SEE SOME OF THE ENTRIES IN OUR ONLINE GALLERY

The competition was inspired by the words of chapter 35 verse 35 in the Book of Exodus, which tells how God delivered the Israelites from slavery.

The people were called upon to use their gifts to adorn the tabernacle that was built as a pace of worship before they reached the Promised Land.

He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of workΒ as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weaversβ€”all of them skilled workers and designers – Exodus 35:35

Here are our winners…

Artistic St Bernadette’s Children Send Out Message Of Hope

10th June 2020Michael McGeary

Residents have praised St Bernadette’s Primary School in Nunthorpe after staff and pupils created a colourful β€œWall of Hope” to cheer them up during these challenging times.

The vibrant artwork displayed on the railings at the front of school showcases children’s hopes and dreams for the future and includes prayers for loved ones and letters to the community.

Staff also supported children in designing posters of appreciation for all key workers.

β€œWe wanted our local community to know we were thinking of them, so staff initially designed some rainbows and messages to let them know we cared,” said headteacher Paul Conway.

β€œIt was so favourably received by passing residents and people who phoned in that staff felt invigorated to expand the work and engaged children at school and at home in a variety of projects.

β€œOur school values include being loving, respectful, determined and positive and so we are proud to be serving and supporting our community in whatever way we can.

β€œIt has been so heartening to see how our local, parish and school community can walk hand in hand through this crisis. We have significant difficulties ahead, but I have no doubt that together, we will continue to rise to the challenge.

β€œWe will continue to provide hope for everyone in our care and try to inspire and encourage people at this difficult time. We are all one community and together we will emerge from this stronger than ever.

β€œIf you are safely able to pass St Bernadette’s on your daily exercise, please visit our Wall of Hope and see the work for yourselves.”

✨ Remembering D-Day: June 6, 1944 ✨

Today, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who stormed the beaches of Normandy to defend freedom and peace. Let us pray for the souls of the fallen, for the veterans who survive and for a world where justice and peace may flourish.

β€œBlessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.” - Matthew 5:9 πŸ™

May their bravery inspire us to work for peace in our communities and stand for the dignity of every human life.

✨ Feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary ✨

β€œBlessed is she who believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her.” – Luke 1:45

Today, we celebrate Mary’s visit to her cousin Elizabeth, a moment of joy, faith and charity. In her humility, Mary brought Christ to others even before He was born. Her yes to God reminds us to share His love with those around us.

Let us follow Mary’s example by carrying Christ to our neighbours, offering encouragement and rejoicing in God’s blessings together. πŸ’›

🌟 Happy Trinity Sunday! 🌟

Today, we celebrate the Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - three Persons in one God, a mystery of love beyond our full understanding. πŸ’–

Let us reflect on the eternal love that flows within the Trinity and extends to each of us. May we live in that love, share it with others and always remember that God is with us: guiding, redeeming and inspiring. ✝️

πŸ™ β€œGlory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.”
