Huge congratulations to St Patrick’s Catholic Primary in Thornaby, who have been crowned winners of our Times Table Rock Stars Summer Battle.
Children had to answer as many times table questions correctly as they could during the 14 days of what was the first inter-school competition for all primary schools within NPCAT.
The St Patrick’s pupils achieved an amazing 1,060,230 points – that’s more than a million correct answers in just two weeks!
“There’s no quick fix to mastering times tables and improving multiplication recall speeds,” said competition organiser Caroline Hunter, Maths lead at St Thérèse Catholic Primary School at Ingleby Barwick.
“It takes regular practise and commitment from pupils, which is why we need to ensure they remain motivated.
“Times Table Rock Stars is a fun way to engage pupils in practising recall of these important facts.”
Certificates were also awarded to the highest individual achievers in each class for all schools who entered.
