📜 Feast of St Hedda of Wessex
Today, we honour St Hedda (also known as Hædde), Bishop of Winchester, who dedicated his life to the spiritual and temporal welfare of his people. Born in Headingley, Leeds, he served as bishop from 676 until his death on 7 July 705.
St Hedda was known for his unwavering commitment to the unity of the Church in Wessex, resisting attempts to divide his diocese. His pastoral care and dedication left a lasting impact and after his death, his tomb became a place of veneration, with many reporting miracles and cures.
Let us reflect on his life of service and pray for the strength to emulate his dedication to faith and community.
🕊️ "May we, like St Hedda, serve with humility and steadfastness."
