Pupils at St Patrick’s Catholic College in Thornaby are celebrating their examination results, with the school continuing to improve the pupils’ progress and achievement across a broad range of subjects.

Headteacher Deborah Law praised the Class of 2026 for the commitment and determination they have shown throughout their secondary education, highlighting the progress made by pupils across the curriculum.

Results in English, Maths and Science were particularly impressive, with strong outcomes for pupils achieving grade 4+ or above, alongside notable improvements in Geography and Health and Social Care.

There were standout performances in French, Food and Sport and the school is also celebrating a number of individual successes, with pupils achieving results that have exceeded expectations and secured their chosen pathways for the next stage of their education.

Miss Law said:

“Today is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our pupils and everything they have achieved. Results days are about much more than grades – they are about recognising the effort, resilience and personal growth that have brought each young person to this point.

“We are delighted to see such positive outcomes across a wide range of subjects. Our pupils have worked exceptionally hard, and many have achieved results beyond the expectations originally set for them when they joined us in Year 7. They should feel enormously proud of what they have accomplished.

“Our thanks also go to our staff, families, governors and parish community, whose encouragement and support have played such an important role in helping our young people to succeed.

“Every pupil has their own individual story and pathway, and we are delighted to see so many of our young people now moving on to the next stage of their education with confidence and ambition.

“The Class of 2026 will always be an important part of our St Patrick’s family. We wish them every success as they begin the next chapter of their lives and look forward to hearing about all they go on to achieve.”

MEDICAL CAREER BECKONS FOR MODEL PUPIL CHARLIE

Former Christ the King Catholic Primary pupil Charlie Walker is thrilled to have achieved the highest grades in the EBacc, including grade 9s across English, Maths, Religious Education, History and within the Triple Sciences field.

Charlie, a model pupil both academically and in his extracurricular and charitable endeavours throughout his school life, also earned a grade 8 in Food and French.

Truly an inspiration to his peers and fellow pupils, Charlie hopes to pursue a career in oncology after studying A-Levels in Chemistry, Maths and Biology.

Charlie said: “It’s been an emotional morning. I’m really happy with what I have achieved but the job is not done yet.”

Charlie also thanked his teacher for their support.

SKY’S THE LIMIT FOR TALENTED HARRISON

Harrison Spink, another former Christ the King pupil, is ecstatic to have recorded an outstanding set of GCSE results as well as achieving the EBacc.

His results include grade 9s across Triple Science in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Harrison also achieved grade 9s in Maths, Religious Education, History, a Level 2 Distinction Star in Sport and grade 8s across English Literature, Language and French. The sky’s the limit for Harrison, whose hard work and determination sets an excellent example for younger pupils.

He has been a great asset to St Patrick’s and has many opportunities coming his way in the future based upon these results. Harrison was lost for words but gave thanks for all the help and support he had received.

Next steps for Harrison include A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths to go onto a career in dentistry.

GRATEFUL RUBY THANKS HER TEACHERS

Former St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School pupil Ruby Fascia is overjoyed with her GCSE results.

Ruby is a conscientious and hardworking pupil who showed great resilience in her studies.

She has achieved the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), which consists of grades in Maths, English, Science, History and French. Standout performances are her grade 9 in English Language and Religious Education.

She has also achieved grade 7s and above in History, French and English Literature. Ruby, who aims to pursue a career in education and research, said: “What you put in is what you will get out of it.”

She added her appreciation for all the staff who have supported her through her journey at St Patrick’s, saying she will be forever grateful.

DELIGHT FOR FUTURE LAWYER OLIVIER

Former Christ the King pupil Olivier Migambo was astonished after recording an excellent set of GCSE results and achieving the EBacc.

His results include a grade 9 in Maths, grade 8s in higher Biology and Chemistry and in Religious Education. He also achieved a grade 7 in History.

Olivier is an independent and reflective pupil who is very inquisitive and seeks out advice and support to help him achieve his full potential.

He hopes to enjoy a career in law after studying A-Levels in Law, Politics and Economics.

“I’m over the moon,” said Olivier. “Thanks to all the teachers and staff at school who have supported me on this journey. I can’t wait to take my next steps.”

FEARNE SETS SIGHTS ON ENGINEERING A FUTURE

Fearne Farndale has been a conscientious and hardworking pupil who has been a pleasure to teach throughout her time at St Patrick’s.

Fearne is buzzing with her GCSE results after achieving a grade 9 in Religious Education, grade 8s in Maths and Combined Science, 7s in English and Art and a Level 2 Distinction in Health and Social Care.

With these fantastic results, Fearne is heading to get onto an engineering course in the hope of pursuing a career in that field.
